One other thing about lifters and lifter failures.
Most people upgrade cams etc and just stick the lifters in the engines without checking clearances. That's a huge area of concern that not too many people check or address.

The Crower falt tappets with the oiling hole seem to be the only tappets worth anything. I wont run a flat tappet anymore with the all the tappet horror stories I've heard and seen myself.

Solid flat tappet.
It has 30wt. Brad penn in it right now for break in. We started it and broke it in on the outer springs.
It's too damn salty on the roads to drive it now, so only 1/2 hour "break in" so far.
I'm still nervous about the cam going flat, but we did everything we could to mitigate it.

Just built a 446 for my coronet. We called dave crower and ordered a custom cam and their EDM lifters.

My buddy is running the crower cam saver lifters in one of his 420 mercs that got rebuilt due to a leaking exhaust. No issues at all . The other engine, has been together for at least 15 years now, with several hundred hard hours on it. No issues there either, and those lifters do no have the oiling upgrades. His engines have 1500 hours, with one rebuild on both at around 800 hours, and the one with the exhaust leak happened around 1350 hours. I think you'll be fine.

I wanted to keep it stock appearing. To that end, it has worked iron heads, a 800 cfm carter AVS and iron manifolds. I also used old school ISKY ductile iron rocker arms.
