that is how i used to pick the engine out of my drag boats,8 grade 8 bolts and 4 pipes welded to the flange seems plenty strong to me.

I just run a choker under the intake.

That said, it is amazing what a grade 5 bolt is rated for.
I always worry more about the threads in the intake as apposed to the bolts themselves.

I just didn't want all that weight on the header welds. Creating a leak if there was a weak point was my concern.

I thin k we figured that out to be the secondarys was hanging up a tad, Smitty saw on dyno...

Thinking I will have it running this weekend, hit water in couple weeks, been very busy lately.. boats been as I can get to it..

When we got carb we saw secondarys werent square when primarys were, norm says its a common occurrence, could be possibilty why carbs needed different jetting. I never gave it a lot of thought before norm showed me that. The 102 mm tb we tested on my 548 had same issue, once throttle stop was ground on to get throttle blade perfectly square it picked up 10% airflow.
