Alfster, not yet, Tonight I will pull off the intake manifold and check the lifter. I hope to hell its not a cam lobe. If it is I will have to pull my outdrive off just to get the engine out to change the cam

You must not have enough room to get engine out with drive on that sux. If you have a roller it may have broken the axle on the lifter. If you have a flat tappet its probably the lobe, and then you can send it to me and I'll throw it in the pile of lunati"s I have with #8 exhaust lobe gone.

Man I dont know if I would start ripping an engine apart at this time of year because of a hot tick. Its not that unusual on these older engines. You have Tempests in there dont you? Was the tick still there with it cold? Were you able to find which one it is? Its usually just a sticking lifter and chaging the preload a little can cure it. Wear could have removed almost all the preload and when it is hot there is none and the tick you hear may just be from no preload.

Just some thoughts.

I hope Kellys tomorow if I get mine finished in time.

Tom, The engine ticked when it was cold then after it warmed up the noise got louder. I pulled the valve cover off and all of the rocker arms were tight but there was lots of slop in one rod so I pulled the rod out and it was straight so now I am going to check the lifter. Have fun on the island this weekend.
