Maximum overbore gen 5 454
Hi can't find any good local deals on a good used 502 so I was wondering how big I can have my 454 done? I know that the old Mark 4 Hi-perf 4 bolt blocks they take 100 over is this safe on a newer gen 5 boat block? Thanks Charlie

well standard bore is 4.25".. so i would think .060" is all i would want to bore.. so 4.31" You might be able to go bigger if you check it with a sonic tester and make sure you have enough meat, plus to make sure your bore is centered in the cylinder. If it was me i would just go .030" to clean up the bore. That would leave you another .030" for cleanup if you scatter the motor.. You don't gain much by enlarging the bore...
