Dry exhaust slip fit sealant.
Hello all.
im having a leaking isssue on my lightning headers dry tailpipes to collector slip joint.
I put what I thought was a lot of permatex orange high temp silicon on the slip joint, and im still getting water through the joint.
what are you guys using to seal the slip joint on these headers?
thanks

You have to make sure both pipes ( joining areas ) are clean. I sanded mine to have a very clean surface. Make sure that you always have water going through the pipes because the high temp silicone is only rated for 450* F.
That and they probably need at least a week to fully cure. If you heat them up before they are cured they will burn out at a MUCH lower temperature than 450*F

So, I decided to learn to TIG weld and weld the tailpipes to the collectors. That slip joint system is BS in my opinion. No good way to keep the pipes from moving slightly and, as such, the sealers / silicons don't hold up.
Here's a practice piece I did
