Well I started to winterize yesterday and Stbd motor went just fine. Swapped the muffs, turned on the water and fired up the port motor. I picked up some stuff in the boat, started cleaning out the glove box while it warmed up and went back to check things out. At that point I noticed I had NO water coming from the exhaust!!! It had been running for maybe 5 minutes like that, and the temp gauge was showing around 160. The exhaust was hot, but not too hot to touch.
I pulled off the intake hose and cranked up the hose and water was flowing thru the drive. Then I pulled the water pump to check out the impeller. 5 minutes running dry and it was fine. Someone had asked in another post if they take on a set, and it had taken a bit of a set, probably no more than a merc replacement. I'll be working on it tomorrow to figure what went wrong, but I thought I'd give an update on how the GRW blue impeller was holding up. They claim that they can run for 15 minutes dry, but I don't think I'll try that...
