Water Pressure Differential?
Does anyone know the difference in water pressure when installing a pressure gauge sending unit in a block water jacket versus in the thermostat housing? Example all OE '96 7.4 LX MPI, my sending unit is installed in the t-stat housing cross over pipe on the RHS of the engine when facing the crank pulley.
Thanks for any insight.

Water pressure will vary from boat to boat depending on water pick up, depth of drive and speed. 1-2 psi at idle up to 30psi at WOT is pretty normal.
The water psi at either location should be about the same.

Maybe I can put this on my list of things to move and see if there is a difference between block and T-stat. Don't know if I'll get around to it, will be easy enough to move for a test at the T-stat, will see

Griff,
Here's the location, left side of the termostat housing, has the blue tape on the tube. Seems pre-circulation pump, post raw water pump. Engine is only raw water cooled.

I just cleaned my water pressure hoses this week. I am picking up of some pretty large intake ports in a bmax drive. Similar to an imco and only saw around 7 psi this weekend. That's with hoses feeding off the 1/4" ports near the freeze plugs in the side of the block. Should there be concern

Looking toward the stern of my boat at the front of the engine, mine is installed in the left side of the T Stat Housing in the port behind the temp sensor.
It would be the left bottom pipe plug as you look at this pic Stainless Steel Thermostat Housing - CP Performance
