Synthetic Oil

I run Mobil1 15-50 in summer and for winter storage I switch to Mobil1 5-30. I use the light weight so it'll build oil pressure quickly on first spring start up.
For oil filter I use Fram or Purolator, same for fuel filter/seperator.
I get my oil where ever I can get it on sale. BJ's Wholesale sells Mobil1 for around 21.00 a six-pack. Sometimes Walmart has 5 quart jugs of it on sale for about 17.00. The filters I have go to a marine supply (West Marine or Boaters World) to get them $$$$.

"Sydwayz" uses Synthetic in his 500efi. I think I remember him telling me $9 a quart, might be wrong. PM him and I am sure he will let you know.
Iggy, you run light weight for the first spring start up? I have never run light weight because I figured it gets thin at our running temps. But that makes since, since it has been sitting and you want to get pressure as fast as you can.

Oil pressure comes up real fast with the light weight stuff.
I do leave it in for the first in water run just get the system flushed out. Pressure stays normal (65 psi) during cruise and drops to 45 at idle which is not much less than normal. I don't do any WOT runs that way but just a nice cruise speed. I'll change it and the filter when I get home. So far no troubles with it.
It'll only get as thin as the highest weight rating. If you're using 15-50wt, it's 50wt at running temp. The lower number is the low temp rating.

Amsoil 20-50-Racing if you change often for the ultimate protection. If you run over 50 hrs. between changes I would recommend their 20-50-HD which contains more additives and will protect better against contaminents that build up with time. --- Jer

we,ve tried amzoil, mobil we found metal files in filters and after each rebuild found alot of wear to bearings , after running penzoil 20-50 we found less files in filters and therefor less wear to bearings. we found it best to change your oil after every poker run and filter after everyother oil change (run the large oil filters)
