Default How to seal the riser on a Merc 330

Guys, I replaced both manifolds and risers this season using the new style gray paste gasket. Both are leaking out the sides and the passenger side is dropping water into 2,4,6,8 cylinders. What is the best way to seal these? I installed them dry, which didn't work.

Maybe this happened to you too ?
Anybody have an 'in' with someone within Mercruiser parts over a manufacturing issue?
