Default Smartcraft Waterpressure sender isues on 600SCi!!!!

Hello Guys
Need some help with the Smartcraft Waterpressure sender on my 600sci engine!
I mount an new out of orginal plastic from merc. They sell me 8m6000623 as an waterpressure sender.
I put in and with ignition on,engine not running,it show 30 PSI pressure. When start the engine pressure go up also.
I thought it was an defect sender and buy second one! Exact same with this.
I checked then number from old sender and was an 881879T11.
I a bit confuesed now,why the new senders dont work.
Are the not the same,as my dealer told me???
Did i need the 881879T11 and no other sender???
I read now sometimes in the net and find out there that my sender was a 0-100 PSI and the 8M6000623 is only a 0-50PSi sender!
Is this the problem? Hope someone can bring light in the dark!!!
Michael

What is your engine serial number, need to verify?

I'm finding that 8m6000623 is a water pressure sensor for several motors but none are 600CSI and is also not listed for the 600 sci

881879T11 is an OIL/FUEL/WATER pressure sensor 0-100 psi for the 600 SCI

There is also a 8M6000628 which is 0-30 psi and would also work for water

Hello AllDodge
Real happy that you anser here, because i read from you on other sides some statements to the sensors. Here in Germany hard to find someone that has knownledge about this!

I see in partslist for my engine now that they use 881879T11 (100 Psi) for Water, Oil and Fuelpressure.
For Chagerpressure they use 8M6000628 (30Psi) (have one for spare)

The senor 8M6000623 ,my dealer sold me,is not used anywhere on my motor and you write it is only 50PSI sensor.
Did this make the trouble now with Full pressure on my gauge when only ignition is on??Other outputsignal???
I will order tomorrow the 881879T11 new, as i want to have all senders in my boat,to get all time make a fast repair when some is defect! In my box is an packed 8M6000628 for chargerpressure, but not shure if i will repack only for testing. My waterpressure gauge show onlyup to 30psi,but i have also ecomonitior in boat that show higher pressure .Maybe then the 30PSI one is to small!
Best regards,Michael

Do you have access to mercruiserparts.com in your country? If so, you can find correct part number there.

Good luck!

Need another with a manual to verify (I don't have one), but my take is the 0-100 can be used for any location (fuel/water/oil) that needs to read up to 100 psi. With your water pressure gauge only going up to 30 psi, I would assume this is where a 0-30 sensor is need. The other locations I would assume is where the 0-100 is required

Maybe i dont make it clear!
I see now that in my engine must use for Water Oil and Fuelpressure the 881879T11 0-100psi sensor!
Blower pressure is used the 8M6000628!
This is from partslist and safe!

I like to know now if the 0-50psi sender 8M6000623 really not work in my system.
Many dealers list this sensor with both numbers. 881879T11 and 8M6000623!
It is amazing when this are diffrent sensors and not interchangable!

I start this sensortrouble to make clear if i loose real waterpressure or sensor is defect. So i mount new 8M6000623 that not work.
I have mount -2 Sportmaster and get now only 20psi.Anyone hear it before???

Maybe raising the drive 2" has put the water intake into less available water coming off the bottom of the boat. X dimension could be too high now putting water intake into aerated water. With my 600SCI's on my cat I had to space standard length sportmasters down 1" to gain enough pressure to keep motors from going into guardian from low water pressure in block fault. I also had to install low water pickups to supply intercoolers only so it would not go into guardian from to high inlet air temp fault. Trying to supply water for motor and intercooler from drive pickup was not happening. Especially with a whipple stage III modification and high x dimensions. Not saying that is the problem but something to think about. Can you go back to your xr setup for testing and see if pressure comes back? If it does you may need to add 1" or 1.5" spacer from EverettPerformance.com - Zeiger Marine Products Official Site to solve pressure problem. Also could be making you think that new Hardin pump is not working correctly as stated from your other thread question about Hardin pump conversion.

Hello and Thanks
I will check today extremly for air leak as i read this now sometimes.
Lower is not to high i think.See pic!
But it was powdercoated and the company makes much on the 4 canals that go to the intakeholes.I make it out there now.
And then new test!First with standart pump as i know it work.
XR lower is sold but can test from friend after holiday.

One more question about the senders!
Are this all same senders only with other mounting adapters???
881879T11
881879A20
881878A16
And some more with only other endnumbers!!??

Have always found that a part which has the same first digits are the same, the letter and digits to follow track manufacturers
