My boat: 29 Fountain Fever (Single HP-500 Carb)
The good news is, is that I have not blown up my bravo yet... The bad news is, I probably will...
How much does the ASD-6 Bravo conversion cost: unit, prop, installation (Aprox)?
Has anyone done this?
How was their experience?
Any negatives?
Any problems with bow lift?

Hey Dowhat,
Check out the Pulse drive. www.pulsedrive.com. It is a trimable surface drive system also. Does not have the reverse problems that Arenson does. Or the "get on a plane" issues. Or the thrust bearing problems. And cost less (geeze, I sound like a frickin' beer commercial!) Yes, they do have a bravo conversion kit (all it is basically is a stand off box that houses the transmission.)
I'm installing them on my 35 Cig. Call Tony or Frankie at PSI. They are great people to work with. Number is 954-788-0810. (Tell them Kevin from the VI sent ya. Earns me brownie points

Go with Arneson. They have been making the drives for years and they have a great track record. Large network of dealers. Arneson Industries is a small high perforamnce shop which will work with you on your project. Arneson parts and equipment are distributed though Twin Disc large network world wide.

The Arneson Conversion mounts the transmision in the standoff box. This helps move the CG of the boat back and create a little more bow lift to balance the boat.
Arneson drive works fine while docking and in reverse.
Non of the surface drives with special surface props are going to maneuver as well docking as a drive with the prop deep in the water. But the drive is trimable, set it deep and it grabs fine.
The Arneson drive has much better control then a fixed drive with a rudder for steerage.
