My Vortech supercharged small block would have ait's in the 170-180+ just cruising around. Under boost would be 200+. Ran like that for awhile, than put meth kit on.
My single turbo setup on same engine would be cooler cruise temp but over 200 under boost. Put largest intercooler i could fit and now air temps are much better. 5-10* higher than ambient after 1/4 mile run.

My post was in reference to icdedppls comments regarding his IAT temps being in the 110-120* range. Thats pretty decent. My NA engine doesnt get much cooler than that on a typical summer day. Im sure with a whipple, and good intercooler, you can get a little cooler iat temps. But its not like hes going from 200* iat temps to 80* iat temps. Now that would be huge!

I went from 200* under boost to just over 100 with the meth injection (2 large nozzles pumping 75% meth)before I put the bigger intercooler in. Huge difference to say the least.

Reading this thread with some interest as I am pondering doing intercooler deal again. On the fence as I am not sure I really need to do them. Right now, carbs on top of 10-71's Hi Helix, sitting on Dart tunnel rams. 48T top, 46T bottom with 6.3# at 5500. Put a thermo couple at air inlet into flame arrestor, and a thermo into intake. Ambient outside was 89-90, cruising at 3000, 115 deg. going into motor and 176 inside intake. At 4000 intake went to 169, at 5000 intake went to 164. From what I have seen on dyno runs a good cooler will lower temp maybe 30-35 degrees? Now the trade off, the Dart TR really flows well in midrange and up. Love to get a cooler on top of intake, mount some injectors in intake at the port. But no real estate. Any idea what I would be looking at with a cooler? Looks like 110-120 temp is where a good cooler would be?
