Default Merc 525 SC intake manifold

New to the forum here.

'm currently having my 454 upgraded with a 525 sc Weiand 177 but it did not come with the intake manifold. The builder tells me that the intakes available almost everywhere for a 177 blower to a BBC wont fit and it has to be a Merc part which is discontinued. I'm hoping someone can shed some light on this or maybe someone has this intake and is swilling to part with it. ANY help is great appreciated!

You might be able to use the more available intake if you can make the thermostat housing work. I think that's the real difference, but someone with more experience on this I'm sure will chime in.

It may be a long shot but you can have a merc dealer look up the obsolete parts list for the intake P/N 848582T02 or call a engine builder like Cobra power who has/had engines go through the doors

I don't think your builder is very smart. A regular 177 intake should work fine. Just need to use a different T-stat housing. One of the Merc 525SC intakes would about $1800 new if you could find one. Problem is the water ports on them always rot out. Years ago I had my ports welded up instead of paying the crazy Merc price.
