Default Fuel pickup

I pulled out my fuel pickup but no tube came out with it just a elbow. My reason for pulling out was because I wanted to make sure there was no screen on the bottom of the pickup tube and to remove the anti siphon valve which there doesn't appear to be either. Is this normal? Is the tube built into the tank? I ran a hose out of the boat and fuel siphon out no problem I just really dont wanna starve my new engine of fuel. Boat is 2001 pantera 28. Thanks for any input.

Yes, there is a tube in the tank. Were you having issues? New engine build more power?

bought boat with a hp500efi with a broken crank. I just picked up a 598 for it about 780hp so I just figured I'd get rid of any possible restrictions and get that 2.5yr old gas outta the boat

Please share the process you are doing as I may do the same. I have a 2000 pantera 28 and just got a new engine. I was thinking of doing something like this to make sure there are no obstructions from the fuel tank.
