Default Blower shop 250 vs Weiand 256 or ???

Hey there all. I am in desperate need of an intercooler for my motor. Its a 540 with a tbs 250 blower. Teague no longer offers the superchiller and they have no intentions of bringing it back. My question is, does anyone know if the bolt pattern or footprint of the tbs blower is possibly the same as say the weiand 256 that is on the 575sci motors? They still make those. Maybe I could adapt it to work for me possibly. Or does anyone know another source for an intercooler for the tbs 250 blowers? Thanks in advance!

Glen @ TBS should be able to answer that for you but I can confirm the upper throttle plate is the same bolt pattern

Sell your 250 setup and the upgrade to an 8 or 10-71 will be less than the cost of adding an intercooler and plumbing

Wouldn't I need an intercooler for the 8-71 then at that point?

I run at 3.5psi boost. Didn't want anything crazy, just something to help. Its in a 29 fountain. Big boat to get up with a single.

no, the 250 is a small blower. Too move the volume of air you need for the 540 it’s out of its efficiency range and heating the air. The bigger blower won’t be spinning as fast to move the same if not more air, and won’t create as much heat

A 250 is 250cid, an 871 is 436cid, I would recommend upping the blower size as the others stated above. With the 250 chiller combo you will need to spin it up even higher, just not a great setup.

I talked to The Blower Shop guys today and I also called Teague Marine.
Person from Teague told me that there’s nothing out there that can be adapted to fit the TBS 250. Teague marine was the only company that made these coolers.
One thing I DID not ask is if an old B&M intercooler would. Not sure if there’s any difference between those and what Merc used on the 575 and higher SC setups.
Honestly, I figured somebody could drill and tap the holes in the correct spot and use some sort of chiller as long as it would seal up halfway decent(?). I just don’t know.

Bummer cause I was asking the same question, which was “what could I buy to make it work on my 250.”

All you need is a really big chunk of aluminum and a mill....Then you can adapt whatever you want.
