Default Mercruiser 454 Mag EFI Performance Chip

I have a 1998 Fountain Fever 29 with stock 454 MagEFI engines. Is their a Chip that others have had good results with to improve horsepower? I want a plug and play type.

I had Tyler Crockett upgrade kit installed on a 454MAG EFI. It included cam, exhaust, head work, air filter and ECU flash. It added 75 HP and really woke the engine up. I’m not sure just an ECU flash alone will do much.

I’m not going to do anything to the engines internally. Just wondering if their is a computer chip or tune that can ad some horsepower.

There's no chip per-say, but the ECM can be reprogrammed. The reprogramming is not going to do much just by itself

if your going to ALWAYS run premium, high octane, a tune that bumps total timing up may give you 10 or 15 hp as a stock mpi has less than 30 degrees total timing, you could fill your boat with 93 and bump base timing up 3 degrees from 8 to 11 and see if it picks up any rpms and youd know. Do NOT buy a aftermarket flame arrestor that has a alumiunum adapter and clamp on KN as they flow WORSE than stock fwiw, Smitty

Belt driven airfilters are okay, but usually need supporting mods to use them safely.

Ok, Thanks guys. I’m kinda done with modifying engines and superchargers and cams and heads and all that. I’ll just leave it alone.
