I’m confused with #1 and #2, lol. What are you looking for ?
A -10 female stainless fitting ?
A -10 female stainless fitting ?

That's why I'm asking about the aluminum AN fittings being used for fuel.
I would much prefer to have all my fuel fittings in SS or brass. I'm not crazy about aluminum fittings failing and having a fuel leak.

Sorry for the old post resurrection, but I'm trying to figure this out.
I bought the pick up tube from Eddie and have a few questions I hope you can help me with.
1. The PU tube fitting is stainless. I cannot find a stainless female fitting to work. Are you guys using aluminum fittings for the fuel with no problems? (I am on fresh water)
2. The PU tube uses a 10AN fitting. And the matching 10AN fitting with hose barb for push on application is for 5/8" hose. Does it make sense to use 5/8" hose when the pick up is only 3/8"?
3. Would it make more sense to reduce the AN10 to a AN 8 and use 1/2" hose?
4. On the fuel filter head, would you keep using aluminum AN fittings, or install brass NPT fittings? (I planned on using push on hose)
5. Is marine grade push on fuel Coast Guard approved? (I cannot find USCG approval)
6. Should I just use 1/2" marine (approved) fuel hose and adapt it to the Eddie Young pick up tube?
Around 550 HP NA engine for reference
Thank you

I run all my fuel hoses in AN fittings ( 50psi pressure) don`t see an issue with it., never had an issue. you`re runing what 7psi? , if you can make oil lines with 80psi and 225* oil , you`ll be just fine with 7psi fuel.
Who cares about USGC , you`re no a boat builder and I`ve never heard of a boarding where the coast guard was checking fuel lines lol
Don`t over think it .

In this link, he replied that he runs AN10 from the pick up tube to the filter/water separator and pump.
Fuel filter and pickup
Seems weird because the pick up tube is 3/8" I.D. and AN10 is 5/8" I.D.
IF your worried about being USCG legal, no AN hose or pushlock that I know of is USCG rated . At 550 hp I would convert the -10 to the size hose you have attached to water separator, if its 3/8 ID, buy a female -10 x 3/8 adapter, IF its 1/2" ID, -10 by 1/2". Most USCG rubber fuel line is much thicker then you realize and smaller ID, IE, I would swear the 3/8 line was bigger because the rubber is so thick, Smitty
Will most likely go this route with 1/2" hose. Thank you for taking the time to post.
I`m confused I thought you were upgrading to a larger size?

Wasn't so much worried about pressure, but more corrosion with aluminum. That's why I really wanted to stay SS or brass for fuel fittings.
As for USCG approved, you're right about over thinking it. Was more or less thinking if there was ever a problem insurance claims may be denied if not approved. That's all.
Thanks for posting.

Thanks for the reply. Both times I talked to him, he was very informative.

I didn't realize the fittings actually weren't rated. I questioned Hardin about the push on hose they sell. It's description says marine grade, but his reply was it is NOT USCG approved. This somewhat confusing for me.

I can see how you're confused. I was originally looking into 1/2" pick up as that's what my engine builder wanted. But after posting this thread I saw how much of a PITA installing a 1/2" PU in a stock tank would be. All the replies on here said my 550 HP would be fine with 3/8" hose. So I opted to go with Eddie Young's pick up tube. All SS and a true 3/8" from tip to outlet. (although it does have a 90* restriction)
