Default Electric Power Steering Pump

Does anyone know of a 12volt power steering pump? I have a Powerquest 290 Enticer. I have full hydraulic steering and it runs off of the standard belt driven pump of the starboard engine. I don't have the serpentine setup and would like to get rid of the power steering pumps and belts.

TBH, I think you're opening a rather expensive can of worms. 12v Electric steering can be done, but that's a lot of force with large motors, short wire runs, etc etc. It's very cool, slick, and an awesome system, if your rig comes that way factory. If you have a belt driven pump today that works just fine, I'd vote leave it alone. But if you're hell bent on doing it, I'll watch

Yup. I looked around and decided to stick with what I have. I did buy the IMCO Twin Engine, Twin Power Steering Pump Priority Valve assembly that will let the power steering be operated by both engines. The electric pump sounded like a good idea.

Thanks for your info. I took a look and the cost is way more than I thought it would be. I will stick with the basics. Thanks again for your help.

Tesla has been doing electric over hydraulic steering since they started. I have seen some hot rods adapting this system, it may be something we will be seeing more of in the marine world shortly.

Volvo is another option. A few companies make stand alone controllers for them now. I was thinking about doing it on my street car.

Verado outboards use an electric over hydraulic pump that I have seen retrofit into a stern drive boat.
