Trying to get my son interested in a Fox-body.

His wants:

American
V8
Manual trans

He'll be sixteen in April and a stock late 80's 5.0 would be about perfect. Easy to work on and about the best aftermarket support there is. He's really responsible so I have no issue with going this route - if I can find a decent one.

I believe it was a Comp 977. The retainers that came on the heads were to loose also. Pro Max sent him replacements springs for the 3 broken ones he had. He had better retainers laying around his shop.

He said the castings looked well machined.

Brand new, fully assembled. The dampers could have been broken during assembly, don't know. Just another example of everything must be checked over throughly. Keep in mind these are lower priced imports. Supposedly cast over seas, machined in usa.

What the hell is this suppose to mean?
Please don't start the China s#it on my thread. There are millions of American manufacturers using China. You can't buy anything that China isn't involved in. Promaxx is an American company using China for a process.

chill pill time.
i was ragging on the name.
but since you mentioned it …..,,nah, just kidding, i won’t go into a chyna here unless provoked. Snd yes, i get bit weekly by their chitty parts and even if from a usa company thst sources them don’t go down silently as it costs me time and $$$ every time.

okay / i’m getting old. I’ll join 5.0 stories.
87 i was in college and working at a garage till ‘91-92? . Got a 5.0 from speed shop who did engine work and couldn ‘t get it running right. We where nearby snd known as the guys not afraid to work on fuel injection. I knew they repaced cam too, so figured probably a firing order swap, changed wires and wallah. They where happy when picked up later. Well, whaddah you know, did the sane fir 20-30 more from them and ither customers iver the years with sane issue. Lol. Msn did ee get chuckles everytime a bad running 5.0 ran in.

Also, we where right on top of k&n on maf car issues. Noone would believe us, but we fixed tons of'm once we figured it out….still hearing
people now, 5000yrs later doubt it, still makes me lol….

Guy in that town was one who developed the shift quadrant things for’m and also made many different adapters for the Tremecs….yup those where fun times….but gawd where factory cars slow.

Last quicky. . Can’t talk about 5.0’s without flow masters right ? One weekend while street racing down in pa we figured we’d go to maple grove for a day. McClelland was there racing with his garage built 5 or 6” muffler. Yup - the very beginning if Flow master. All of us, of course, was like, @what’s thst sound !!!????” Lolololol

many more, will stop there for now.
