Help identifying 502 Magnum 8.2
Hi Guys!
New around here.
Been directed from another board, where I am following the restoration of a 1997 Sunseeker Superhawk 48, equipped with 3 502 Magnum MPI 8.2 V8.

First of all I would like to inform that I am a foreigner (from Madeira Island - Portugal), so I apologize for any mistakes in English.
I will do my best to keep a clear communication.
I am restoring an almost wrecked Sunseeker Superhawk 48.
I am having some trouble identifying the engine’s generation, specially because the serial numbers on the tags, don’t fit on Mercruiser’s range on the information around internet.
I have been ordering already some engine parts, and I am becoming preoccupied because the first ones - valve seals - came all wrong, and more parts are about to arrive.
From the beginning , I have been told those engines were Generation 6 and I have been ordering parts having this information as a reference.
I am looking for your help but not sure If I already can post photos, but I will try..
well, it looks like I cannot post any photos yet…
Let’s share some data:
Only found two serial numbers tags:
- K153852
- K152856
From what I have been searching, these numbers don’t fit on Mercruisers range for generation 5 nor 6…
From the boat’s booklet, it says “3 x Mercruiser 502 MPI 445HP
I have been told those were Gen. 6 but I have been starting to order some parts and became very preoccupied when the first valve seals arrived - been ordering them for gen 6 and they are much bigger than the originals…
I don’t even want to think about the other parts I have ordered… hopping them to fit my engines because I already spend some money…

Hello Alex.
Try adding a 0 in front of your serial numbers you posted. When I did that, it came up with a gen VI 502 engine.

In order to post pictures, you need to have a total of 10 posts on this site and you already have 3
Make 7 more short 1 word posts to reach 10 and then you can post pictures.
