Default Carb linkage to throttle cable how to?

Does anyone have a picture of their carbs hooked up to the similar cable I have? Where do you put the return spring? Can you show where it sits with the sticks at 100% and with them in the idel position please? Here are mine for reference. Anything that looks wrong please guide me here lol

Return springs are not used on boat carbs.

When I hook it all up ( exactly like it was before even using the old throttle cable Mount plates ) it will push it 100% throttle but when I pull the throttle lever at the hell back to idel it will not return it at the carb…..

Are the cables wore out/stretched? I have seen worn cables do this. I also like to put some preload on the cable in the closed position...stick all the way back carb at idle adjust it so the cable has about 1/4 to 1/2 a hole preload as in you have to pull the cable more towards idle position to get it on the carb stud. Hope that makes sense lol

Adjust the cable so its correct for idle first
You also have some cable adjustment at the throttle lever to play with
