I know that this subject, like all subjects, have been beat to death. I want to know where I can use ATF safely. Is it Trim Tabs, out drive trim, power steering?? thanks guys!!!

I use oil in my tabs and trim pumps, but really no reason you can't use ATF. I always have a few qts of oil in the boat. I use ATF in my hyd steering and only keep a qt in the boat.

When mine was rigged a few years ago steering and tabs were set up for ATF and trim uses 30w oil. I don't see any reason you can't use ATF if the system is clean and ready for fresh fluid.

I run ATF (non-synthetic Type-F) in the above mentioned in my Scarab because I have transmissions and my bilge is painted red, also I don't want to carry extra fluids. I do not run ATF in anything in my Bravo boat because red ATF dye stains.
