Without Erica I wouldn`t be able to do half these projects or they would take twice as long that is for sure.
Her only downfall is that she keeps me going with too much encouragement when I should have given up years ago , like the cig. lol
And she spend my money on parts like water !

Getting support from the wife and kids is priceless. Having them help wrench and struggle to overcome the obstacles is next level.

Seems it's worth tearing down and inspecting newly owned engines if the new owner has the means and time.

Wow, does this suck!

Been there, done that.
(luckily, not to that level $$$, though)

A problem at having anything at top of the food chain is, when (not if) it goes sideways, who do you call for help??

Andddd, the more time you spend in the shop and less on the water!

And I 100% agree w/Wildmans comment.

Only safe way to buy a hot rod motor is either disassembled in boxes or, new from builder.

Too many stories like this where good people buy from good people and it still goes sideways!

Best of luck sir!

Gary,

The truth is that Dan isn't cursed. The universe just knows he wouldn't be happy if he weren't tinkering with his sh!t.

I distinctly remember reading a line Dan himself wrote, right here on OSO.... "I finally have Carpe running just about perfect.... Time to sell it". The universe was telling him he needed a challenge. Ask and ye shall receive.

Thanks. Brad.

Sorry to see all your troubles. Sucks for sure.

I'm curious how many hours were on the engines when you bought the boat?

The heads for Starboard engine are at the High Flow Heads.
Everything is actually looking pretty good . Head gaskets looked great, initial prognosis on heads is that they look pretty good and may only need new springs with more pressure. Doesnt seem like the valve bounced too much.
Compression and leak down were all good.
Holley Stuff will be here friday.
It`s been 5 years since I converted to Holley and now they have a lot better wiring harnesses for ease of install.
For example coil on plug took a bit of wiring and relays etc back in the day, now it`s plug and play with main harness.
Time to figure out the wiring and seperate the Mefi stuff from the boat harness .

Horns, you can get those anywhere . Horn blasters is my go to but on the jet boat I did a cheap set and they still work great .
ECUs had 20hr on them .

3 weeks for heads
2 weeks to convert to Holley
1 week to pull other engine and reinstall .
Few days for a tune ..

I don`t know.... I may have this back in the water this year yet .

More than likely but it could be oil temp as well...pull the sensor out and look at it....if psi then it will have a small hole at the end...if its solid then its temp..
