allan,
do all the power you want. the boat is desiged to do a certain speed and thats it. if you truly want to start with that boat before you do anything and waste your money blueprint the bottom, then go from there. that hull truly wasn't made to go much over 80.

Allan, All the people I have talked to with the new 25 Outlaw and Ext. Boxes say they do nothing speed wise. They handle a little better in the rough but not much more than 1-2mph on the top end.

Alan,
I had a 1998 24 Outlaw just like yours. I was on the verge of spending big money in order to see speed into the high 70’s. I decided to stick it out for a year at status quo. With the money I saved I bought my current boat and got almost 80mph right out of the box. If I were you I would hold out for one of the new 30 Outlaws due out next year. That would get you 80mph out of the box. Trying to see big speed from a 24 Outlaw may be a bit like trying to polish a turd.

I know, just trying to go faster until I can go bigger. Hit 75.7gps this year, and I want to go with a blower for next season but I am having some issues there as well (see my other thread). Just thinking outloud, anyone else have a .02 to throw into the mix??
Hey Merlin........don't make me come out and fertilize your yard with rock salt.....

I think a shorter lower drive would be the place to look before going to a box. Check out the latest Powerboat mag and the Teague column. He said go with a shorter lower on a 27 Formula which is about the same as your boat. I have a 24 Outlaw like you and am also looking for more speed. Mine is Whippled and this winter I am installing a roller cam setup and going with 1lb more boost. I hope to get to 80 mph. Baja said that is all that the hull will do safely. I know it will go faster but my pocket book won't let it!!!

EXTENSION BOX
I agree with RLW save your money for the fast trucks, food, and women.
The extension box is quite a bit of effort for a small gain.
The 24' Outlaw does give a great ride, but will become a little flighty over 70
Save your doe for a large boat, the ride in the 24 is great but the ride in a 29 or 30 is considerably more comfortable at higher speeds.
Good Luck
