Aftermarket exhaust acc. bracket question

If I keep the boat, the motor is getting replaced with a GM crate or rebuilt. Either way, aftermarket exhuast manifolds are in its future. My problem is that its not a Merc but an OMC King Cobra. The shift linkage and circuit breaker housing is mounted to the starboard manifold. The remote oil filter mounted to the port side. The breaker housing and oil filter could be relocated w/o much effort. Its the shift linkage that I forsee problems. Is this a common obstacle? With the stock manifold in hand, could a good fabricator modify an aftermarket exhaust with some brackets or is welding on these a no no ? Ill attach a pic if I can find one.

Did the same conversion a few years back , '99 I believe , had a BB Ford and King Cobra. Pulled the 460 out and bored and stroked it to 540. Replaced it and used Imco Powerflow exhausts. They had brackets available for the shift linkage. My oil filter mounted on the front of the port head.
A friend of mine bought Gil exhaust for his SB/Chev/ Merc and made his own brackets out of aluminum.

Sting,
Imco doesn't make exhausts for Fords
but they do make trick CNC'd aluminum adapter plates to go from Ford heads to BBC manifolds.
That's what I used on my 460 and 540

Cris, can you mount the linkage on the transom.....behind the engine......above the drive shaft......you know what I'm trying to say? That's where mine is. And I know a LOT of other guys who have theirs mounted there. My ignition is also mounted on the transom.

I figured when I get serious about this, Ill take the bracket and see where it has room. I thinking more along the lines of doing paint and a motor on this boat. I love the space I have and the styling is pretty good. After the boat show, I just cant justify dropping $40-60K to upgrade just a little bit. When I do jump up, I want to go big.
