More questions on the above mentioned data:
What's SSM v1 and SSM v2 mean?
What exhaust is on the base Merc 500 HP engine?

I need more info, please.
Where can I find it?
Thank you!

Youre right Zanie, the 500 HP stock carb has Gills,EFI has CMI. Also the hp. dyno results between the Eickert and the CMI long primary could easily be dyno error. One other thing the simmullarity between all of the short and long primary headers and manifolds seens to close.

Default The publishing business

The problem we have with running direct comparison tests between products is the lack of objectivity between consumers. If a customer spends thousands of dollars upgrading his exhaust, (for instance) he gets pissed off when a magazine does a test that shows his exhaust is inferior to another. He doesn't want to look like a fool to his friends! He will disregard the info and bad mouth the magazine test.
A perfect example is a guy that buys an inferior truck, he would rather die than admit that he made a mistake and he will always brag about how good it is.
It isn't very difficult to determine what is a good product and what is a bad product with just a little bit of research. The problem with consumers is that most are intellectually lazy and make decisions based on advertising claims. I think that they get what they deserve! Fortunately we have an excellent forum to discuss these products and those of us that aren't lazy use it to our advantage!

In many instances running a longer primary on a 502/496 C.I. you will be able optimize additional gains with valve timing and porting as shown by the new Merc.525 and G.M.s HP 3.
