I am going to change the springs on my HP500s this spring. The boat has been sitting since the end of October, should I run it on the hose until it gets hot enough to make sure the lifters are pumped up, or is this not required?
thanks

I ordered springs form Rod at Performance Marine in Wisc. He recommended an upgraded spring at abour $225 per set, said about $100 more than stock, but much better.
"Would not be broken when I change them again in 200 hours"
I did not get the name, went with his opinion, but will post when I get the springs. I got the Merc manuels but they do not address the HP500s, only the 8.2 mags etc. What is the proper procedure for adjusting the valves? The book does not address roller rockers. Any other advice is appreciated.
Thanks

You can use the adjustment
procedure from the manual
you have.
Adjust down 3/4 turn after
zero lash, then tighten the
jam bolt.
