Default Holley "BLACK" fuel pump...

Many of the catalogues do not list the marine series Holley fuel pumps or put a premium on them. Anyone know who has the best price for the Holley BLACK fuel pump? How about an alternative to Holley?

I used the non marine black for 3 years on 550 hp motors with no problems at all.

Mallory 110gph internally regulated. Or 140gph externally regulated. Both available as Marine. I had good luck with the 110.
BTW, the price is about the same as the non-Marine version.

I would steer way clear of the Holley's. I used to run them on my drag car and they were either extremely noisy or they would just quit. I usually had to rebuild at least one of them once a year.

I'd go with Gary on this one. I also run a Mallory, I think it is the 140 version. It was the best pump I could find at the time without having to run a return line.

I will give the Holley death some thought. I always mount a spare fuel pump adjacent to the running one. If it quits just grab the Leathermans and swap it. The Holley "Black" is about 150 from Summit. Mallory around 250.

I dont want to slam the holleys, I've never used them. But they may have a reputation for unreliability.
Maybe you get what you pay for. BTW, the 110gph Mallory is enough for 500hp easily. It's only about $150. What hp are you running?

B&M 250 on top of a 502, probably close to 600 hp.

Wouldn't hurt to run the 140 then. I had a chart for required flow, it's probably on the Holley and Mallory websites anyway.
BTW, if you've compared the Mallory to Holley, I think you would spend the extra bucks for the mallory. Very nicely machined pump housing.
