Default Head gasket/bolt upgrade

Hey All,

I'm having a Procharger installed and it's been recommended that I upgrade the head gaskets and bolts. Seems like a good idea (?), But I was quoted $800.00 for parts and labor, is that reasonable????? How many hours would you think it is and how much for good parts?

That sounds very reasonable for a shop in Los Angeles. Where are you located?

Thanks for the reply,

I'm in colorado, the break down was $225.00 for bolts, $140.00 gaskets (including exhaust) and the rest labor = $435.00 ($55.00 hour).

In addition to the cost question, I was planning on replacing the heads and beefing up the motor next year anyway, sooo what is the likely hood of blowing a gasket (no pun intended) with the Procharger added?????

Not bad - prices aren't but DOUBLE what they should be for the parts. It would sound a lot better if the price was for twins.

Sounds like a lot of folks need to shop at Jegs or Summit.

How much boost are you running? I ran a bone stock 7.4 with 9 pounds of boost with a ProCharger for 3 years hard.

Wow KCHOTBOAT,

From what I hear that is really good. I have now talked to several guys that have gone through head gaskets....

My buddy and I are both having Chargers installed and only planning to run 5lb boost. A 5lb pully at lower elevations and 7lb (=5lb) at higher elevations (3600-6000 feet) closer to home.

Thanks for the advise everyone............
