I am running the Redline Shockproof Heavy. I switched last year. I really don't like the sludge that the merc oil left in the reservior. If the oil was breaking down in the reservior, I wonder what it was leaving in the drive. Didn't have any sludge with Redline.

I was about to use Amsoil, mainly because it's convieniante. My local auto supply hcarries it and has it priced very competitive. Maybe I should stick to just putting it in the engine.
Amsoil does make a marine gear oil. And I believe 2 other grades, a series 2000 and a regular grade.

merc oil is synthetic. red line is the best. merc is 2nd.
teague sends the amsoil because he gets deals on it. he is the one who got me hooked on redline.
