Supercharging smallblocks
This is a thread that got deleated CHIT!!!!!!!....guess we had to take one for the team..... Anyway the thread involved Dustin Whipple and he was telling us about the various smallblock applications he has done. My last post asked what carb he used and is it included in the kit? Also, is the kit intended for a bone stock marine 350 or is there any other reccomended upgrades like perhaps a larger oil pan or oil cooler or an ignition upgrade etc etc. Also, do you reccomend the engines to be totally fresh or is it ok to have a few hours on them, a compression/leakdown test??.........doug

Doug, we don't include carbs with our kits, on bone stock, a Holley 650 is fine. The same system will fit almost all variances so it's up to you what changes you want to make. Aluminum heads are a great choice, but the SC is the single most important ingrediant and will grow with your changes so I think that should be the first thing and upgrade as time goes on.
Oil coolers are always recommended as well as a nice big pan. I use Olson oil pans for almost every project. Ignition, not at first, but later as you want increase power, you'll need to upgrade. The SC system is very modular.
Thanks,
Dustin

depends on what your trying to do. If you want 50% more power install the supercharger, if you want 60%, install with intercooler and 1lb of boost more as well as large capacity oil coolers. If you want more, install aluminum heads such as Dart Pro One or AFR's and run even more boost and larger capacity oil pan. If your not satisfied with that, install exhaust and camshaft/valve train.
You can do it all at one time or step by step, it's up to you and what you want to get out of the engine.
