Run the 87 in it and get the timming set, it will run cooler and better, use less gas and live longer.

87 is the right stuff in those engines...there is nothing to be gained with a differnet filter to speak of...i designed and built a custom throttle body will zero gains and then very little making 530+ hp and 600# from that 502mag enigne. put a cam in it if you want to see something.

i have done no real testing on the 500efi's...lots with the 500hps.

take advantage of the msd and gap those plugs out or mod the electrodes...you can gain a few on the dyno with this...rmember it taxes the system and its life span..

87 runs hotter than 89...bumping the timing 2 degs at wot will cool the exhaust tmps about 50deg on that enigne.

I added an MSD-6M last season. It is very simple to add on. Just get the correct plugs from MSD and it will plug right in. As was stated, this is the best way to do this, just in case it fails, you can easily unplug it and run your original ignition. It will clean up your transom, but don't expect any performance gains.

OK Summit wants $145 for a regular msd vs $245 for a marine version? I'm confused I had a msd box on my 4x4 that I use to Baja and it would get beat to death and than hosed off direct water hose n it never failed. Why would I pay 100 more for a blue marine 1 that never gets wet at all ? my under hood 5.0 stang use to crash through water puddles n it never failed. what's the huge $100 difference?

I use the red one's, from what I was told it's just the plug's that are different that's why I had to change mine. The M uses weather head plugs.

USCG might not like it too much but I keep the paper work for the plug I use. But they have never even asked. I think it would take a fire for them to even look.

Thats crazy the weather heads should be on all of them I mean think about it a car or truck goes through puddles a Bilge doesn't crash through water like the under hood of my 4x4 when i baja it
