I am in the process of rebuilding carbed HP500 and was wondering if anyone has a recommendation on a differnt cam
I would like about 550 hp is this possible with just a cam swap?

You will need some head work, at least a good pocket port and valve job. Better yet, some good heads-Merlin comes to mind as cheap hp. For a cam, try the Iskenderian 396284294. It is killer!! Also, consider the Crane 139741. Both are Hydraulic Roller and you should install valve springs for the cam. 550 will be no problem with heads and either of these cams.

I had my heads ported with some relief work. I decided on the 169731 from Crane. Both motors run and idle great I am using comp cam springs but will probably change to the Insky springs when it's time to replace them. If I had to guess I would say I have hit 550 with this change. I have seen the speed increase to back it up. I also noticed that they don't seem to loose power as bad on hot humid days . I have not put them on the Dyno so the above info is my observation not fact. Overall very happy and they are still turn key.
