Exhaust Risers
Can anyone tell me if the risers that fit a BBC merc manifold will also fit a SBC merc manifold? Thanks Dwight (I am talking about the aftermarket risers)

Thanks guys for the info, So I should be able to replace my merc risers with the lighter stainless type. I see risers for sale for big blocks all the time and had wondered if they were the same. Thanks again. Dwight

Risers are brand specific. Merc risers fit Merc manifolds, Gill fit Gil, Imco fit Imco, etc. They will not interchange between brands.
Also the Merc risers I have are very light, maybe 5 lbs each. Its the manifolds that that heavy.

Griff, you have aftermarket exhaust on your boat (stainless marine if I remember right for the 525SC), Whitey does not. Stock iron stuff on his small blocks.
Whitey, without other mods, the wieght you will save will not be noticable at all as far as performance is concerned. Blowers my friend, blowers!!!!!

Foul I agree on the chargers but $$. Besides I was thinking no matter what I did I would still want a better exhaust system. That is why I had asked about the risers, If they would fit the merc stock stuff I could get risers and then do the manifolds at a later date. Just toying with some thoughts here hmmm..

The exhaust on the Pantera is Gil and the Gil risers actually weigh more than my stock merc risers off the Baja.
Moot point though since what he was thinking about won't work.
