Default Effects of not enough timing advance @ idle

If I do not have the ideal advance at IDLE will it hurt the motor? Im not talking alot here just 2 deg. or so less than perfect...My total advance is about 2 deg. to much so I want to take it off on the idle....Any problems here guys?

Thanks
BH

Im using the D.U.I. distributor...It has 26 deg @3000 built in...I was running 8 deg @ idle.....Stock timing is 30 deg total. My motor seems to like 32 deg total...34 and I don't see any more rpm's or speed...Idle is not quite perfect (what is)but is o.k. From what I understand the vortec heads don't like the timing the stock sbc heads do......Thanks for the info Bobby.

You could probably send them to DUI for a re-do.

I just ordered a set of DUI's. How do you like them?

So far they seem awesome......Great Customer service....Im sure I will end up sending them in but I want some seat time before Im sure exactly what I want as far as initial advance....Besides I can't bear the thought of being without my boat for a week or so!!!!

Thanks! Seems like I made the right choice.

I feel your pain about being without the boat. I blew a motor 3 weeks ago and still have another 3 to go. Well, at least the wife is getting me to do more "hunnydews" during the down time.
