you do not need to take it off. drill holes in the side of the assembly to get to the nut. the gimbal ring is fine i am sure. you need a new pin and bushing.

It looks like I will drill the side of the housing.
Treadwell, why do you not think the ring is bad? Are the pins/bushings known for going bad first? Is there aftermarket stuff that I should look at or stay w/ the Merc parts?
