Default Cam degree Question

I have one more question from my engine build sheet. The cam in a Comp Cams XM270.

226 in. 236 ex @.050
.544 in .547 ex @ 112

On the sheet is say's "Cam in @ 110.5"

Maybe some of you engine guru's could explain what exactly this means in terms of this Cam. Just trying to expand my knowledge base.

Thanks in advance,
Scott

Thanks Bobby. What do I gain by the cam being advanced 1.5 degrees? I have rebuilt motors etc...but always installed the cams straight up. Degree a Cam is kinda Greek to me.

Scott its a fairly long topic and I will be glad to help ,but in short it makes the power come on at a lower rpm than straight up and retarding it works the opposite way ,but 1.5 degrees is no worth anything I think thats just the way everthing lined up and he left it there instead of making it straight (Timesaving) 4 degrees is common either way not 1.5 degrees
hope this helped alittle if not p.m. me

I never can keep these cam things straight. The XM270 has a centerline of 108* (I believe) and an LSA of 112. So that means the cam is ground with 4* of advance. If it was installed at a centerline of 110.5*, isn't that 2.5* retarded?

Or am I retarded?
