How much RPM drop from out to in gear?
502's with Kaamas. How much rpm drop is normal when shifting from neutral to forward or reverse? I have wonderfully smooth idle at 700 to 800 rpm but both engines get cranky when shifted into gear. They act like they're not warmed up and I have to add throttle to keep them at the same rpm.

I loose about 100rpms when going into gear on a 525SC with a Bravo drive. It was about the same on my hopped up 454mag.
525sc idles at 700rpms in gear.
454mag with more cam had to be at about 800rpms in gear to idle nice.

doright. (have not been out this year.....memory laps a bit)....but, as I recall my idle is at 750.....close to 800, and when i drop into gear I DO have to move up 1click on the throttle. My KAAMAs do have a overdrive (i forget the ratio) and I'm using 16.5x26 4-Blade Kiehkaffer's.
Granted our motors are not the same (mine are the original kaamas, cam they used sure sounds mighty good though)....and with just 1 in forward I'm moving pretty good. In-fact around the marinas I always alternate between the two motors and hit neutral a bit.
