Mechanical fuel pump-alternative to merc?
I need to replace my fuel pumps. I have the set up that is driven off the sea water pump eccentric (gen VI bbc, no fuel pump boss). The stock merc pump is a cheap carter pump painted black with a vent added, for $116 @ BAM. Holley has a nice marine pump (jegs #510-712-454-13) that does 130 gph for $85.99. I'm sure the Holley is meant to be actuated by the camshaft driven pushrod of the older gen blocks. Can it be used on the sea water pump application? Has anyone done it?

I have used after market pump tops with the Mercury base. The Mercury lever required for the sea pump. I did drill a hole for the vent and I had to drill out the screw holes where the two halves of the pump came because they both had threads. This was all done with a hand drill, no special tools required.
