closed cooling

If it's not a salt boat or a cruiser that sits in the water all winter, then there's little to recommend a closed system. The benefits are world's easiest winterization and complete protection from internal corrosion.
I'd stick with normal cooling (and I'm a guy who normally will recommend closed in a heartbeat). I just don't see any advantages in your application, especially since the heat exchanger takes up room and usually isn't cool looking.

I have Mercs' closed cooling system. Works great. Fit real easy. I boat only in salt water. If you are interested, here is a link for after market closed cooling systems.
