Default Holley Electric Chokes

Just hooked up the electric choke on my carb. The choke spring housing seems to get VERY HOT especially on the connector fittings are surrounding area. The outside area of the housing gets warm to touch. This has me a little concerned. Now it was on for about 30 minutes and didnt' melt anything But you dont' want to touch the damn thing thats for sure. The wires themselves were not hot just the connectors and the surrounding area around them. Is this normal.

Talking HOT, DAMN HOT, KINDA LIKE CROTCH POT COOKIN HOT !!!

Absolutely normal. The black choke housing were the wires connect will get pretty hot. How it works is you electrically charge the wire windings inside that choke housing. As they heat they wind up tight. This is when the choke flap opens. As it cools, ignition off, it unwinds the coil. This is when the choke closes.

Everything sounds fine to me.

BAD-HABIT,
How did you hook up the power to the carb. I assume you, ground to battery ground and + to keyed voltage? Just now hooking mine up. Thanks Jay

Power was from the original power wire. Ground was wired to the carb base.
