egt location on stainless marine exh.
well i am trying to determin where to locate the probe for a egt gauge in my stainless marine exhaust (BBC). i have read some previous post that suggest to put it in the head or in the manifold on the #6 cyl. i talked to stainless marine today and they said to put it in the riser just above the coupler. i think this is to far from the cyl to get an accurate reading. where do you normally run the prob. i am getting ready to put a procharger on this motor and i dont want to run it to lean and damage the motor. thanks shawn

Both my engines have the probes in the exhaust flange & prior to the water jacket... that close to the #2 cylinder..... if it's not close, then it's not accurate.... You might consider having Arizona Speed install them. They have been there a lot!! Mistakes with a drill can be expensive in water jacketed headers.... more than a Fedex charge!!
I see you are from Kansas, so maybe you can get Procharger in Lenexa to drill them for you...... or contact Gordo (send him a PM)from Kansas also... he may be able to give you some ideas....
