I have a friend that just called and want's to know how to get his boat to run "70mph all day long" It's a 1999 28 ft Donzi with a 454 mag. that has 150 hours on it. and is running low 60's now. I told him a blower and that it would cost around $5000 by the time it was all said and done. He said he would do it if it were $2500 so which direction whould you point him in??
I know the first thing he needs is exhaust and that going to run anywhere from $1200 to $2500 just for exhaust!!
heck, now that I start thinking about it $5000 doesn't seem like it's even close!!!

Make sure that he has the best prop and throw out some weight. Set the ignition timing correctly, good flame arrestor, extended tip spark plugs, up the fuel pressure (efi?) premium fuel and change the exhaust system. That should be good for 3 or 4 mph. Give us more details about the engine and we can help even more.

Funhome, the 28ZX with a single 454 mag will need a whipple or procharger to get there. There is a guy on the donzi.net board that has that same boat but with a 502 mag and had about 5-6K in enginew work done to get to 70, when that same money spent on a supercharger system would have put him over 70. Tell your friend to go over to the donzi.net site anp post there. Lots of good Donzi folks over there
