I'm wondering if someone has changed the Bravo drive ratio from 1.36 to 1.50. I have a Cigarette Top Gun
with 1.36 drive, the boat is very heavy and the prop is only a 23" Mirage. I think the 1.50 ratio with a 27" prop
gives me a lower prop slip factor and better top speed.
What's your opinion?

you would end up using a 25 mirage if you went to a 1.50 gear ratio.try some four blade props before you tear into the outdrive.hydromotive's work well on that hull and bravo's might also

mine is a 28 scarab I had a 1:50on the boat sold it with the other because my 1:36 just had work done and had an Imco shorty but now I couldn't get revs, was told how much faster it would be with a 1:50, so put on 1:50 tried it then 1:50 with Imco stub and after wasting time and a little cash found there is no diff. If i changed props I could compensate and adjust rpm. I called Merc. racing and they said the same he also said the 1:36 was easier on my lower due to blah blah blah at any rate for me ratio didn't mean squat it was just downsizing prop to equal rpm with the same speed seen each time.

Run a set of 22" Bravos and the boat will wake up. Night and day difference getting on plane and you'll have midrange punch that you don't have with the Mirage props. Lab the Bravos to run up around 5200 r's and the boat just might even be faster.
