Havent measured, but I think a 15 inch drop would put the exhaust tips under the waterline. Many 302's had them raised to your heigth, Jon, and I'm thinking of doing the same to install external steering some year soon.

Why not just put flappers on the tips?

I had a similar problem and I took a riser gasket to a machine shop and had them fabricate a spacer out of aluminum to bring me up about 4" just to be on the safe side and I put on some flappers.

Where'd you buy? Our place is out on Eastern Point. Overlooking Brace's Cove.

I had Stainless Marine custom build a set that were 6" taller than stock...Think the bill was about $100 over the stock ones...

Bad habit that is great to know as I the Stainless is at the top of my list when I am ready to do it. I have the 4" risers now so that is what I will stay with. They look a little odd but not bad.

Jon, check your clearances carefully. I have the regular gil exhaust, and there is not an inch between the top of the exhaust and the bottom of the engine cover. Bad Habit has a single engine, which looks like it sits lower in the bildge than ours.
