Drive shift cable adjustment
I have a problem with my Alpha SS drive adjustment.
After having the impeller replaced, the engine would cut out shifting into and out of gear(great for docking). I noticed the cam that the ignition cut out switch rides on was not centered, so I adjusted the cable to center it and was rewarded with a drive that does not go into gear with out reving the engine(slightly). I've ordered the Merc service manual, but it won't be here in time for the weekend. Can anyone help me out with the adjustment procedure???
Thanks
Joe

I would like to help you out but it isn't an easy adjustment to make. It would be difficult to explain in the forum.
Your best bet, even with a manual, would be to have an experienced Mercruiser mechanic make the adjustment.
It takes a while for any good mechanic to get the feel for the adjustment procedure.
You probably have something binding in the cable or linkage causing the interrupter switch to activate prematurely. I would guess that it will take some new parts to make it work and it isn't a simple adjustment.
