Ever heard of a RIO??? UPDATE Pictures Added...
I'm looking at a boat made by RIO. It is an offshore race type boat. 22.6' has a 330 merc with a trs drive. The boat is susposed to run high 80's. the owenr states that it is one of 5 and was made in N Miami area. It is all glass even the stringers.
Any info you guys could provide me with would be great. I have not seen the boat yet but I am going to look at it on Monday.
Thanks Rob

You may want to post a pic of the boat. Someone may recignise it.
Keep in mind it is harder to insure a boat that is that low of a production. It can be done, but you may have to shop around a little more.

I havn't seen the boat yet myself... But as soon as I go look at it I will take some pictures and post them. The price on the boat seems too right thats why I'm really looking for information. High 80's seems odd as well for what he claims is a stock 330hp motor on a 5500lb 22ft boat.
I have been all over the net and can find nothing out about it.. I'm hoping once I get some pictures someone might reconize it..
Thanks Rob

If memory serves me correctly.......it is almost a Challenger 21. I say almost cause it was changed, I just don't remember where. In fact as I type, my memory tells me that Rio was owned by Jack Clark of Jaguar fame. He bought a hull and deck from some other peeps and made his own molds. As for the 80 mph with a 330 TRS...I doubt it. I had a Midnight 21(same boat) w/ a 2.4 EFI outboard and it ran in the low 70's tops .

not sure...haven't seen him in years. I know he's still around somewhere. Also I believe the molds ended up as Mark1 boat company.
sidenote...Jack Clark actually raced a RIO in APBA for a short while....I believe A class at that time. Then he got into cats and parted ways with the Mark1 guys.

thanks for the info guys.. I'm still going on Monday I'll post some pictu4res after that..
as for the high 80's I thought that seemed odd. It only has a 25p prop on it. Is that speed even possiable with a 25p. I doubt a stock 330 would spin over 5500 nor would I want to spin it higher..

Heres a bunch of pictures of the Rio. The boat is in way worse shape than I had hoped. I was told it was much nicer that it acctually is. Anyhow any ides on this boat now and what it might be worrth.
I have no idea how many hours it has but the motor run ok. No sea trial. Drive goes in and out of gear. Its a 1.50 with a 25 pitch prop. The owner claims 90 mph now on GPS. I really find that hard to believe. There is a good amount of oil in the bulidge. But no holes in the block. Seems to be a bad rear seal. Anyway the motor has to come out for sure and be gone through. Gaskets for sure. Gel coat looks preety good there is some bubling on the deck. and a couple of stress cracks but nothing major..
Comes with the trailer dual axel with surge brakes. Steel.
Any input would be great.
Thanks Rob
