1.2??? gear ratio's
Does anyone know what gears are required to achieve 1.2 ... gears in the bravo? I think you utilize standard 1.36 in the upper but I am not sure about the lower.

BC- I'm pretty sure Chris "Sterndrivespec" would know- the drives he's selling were originally set-up with 1.12 I think, so i know he's familar with changing the ratios- 315 676 2979. Good luck!

I just bought some lower gears from Sterndrivespec that will have an overall ratio of 1.25 with 1.50 gears in the top. He told me if I put the 1.36 gears in the top, I would have an overall ratio of 1.12.
I'm looking at putting the heavier 1.50 gears in the top. The 1.25 overall ratio will help with prop size.

you will find that the more you choke down on rpm with that gear ratio you boat will lose a lot of punch in the midrange and you put more stress on the drive. BEEN THERE DONE THAT. try to set the boat up so that it like rpm. the engine will take more that the bravo. thats the way im going next year in both of my cats. just my 2 cents worth. see ya

merlin 540, thanks for the input, but I'm out of rpm with the hydraulic lifters
sterndirvespec - is it possible to get an overall 1.36 ratio with 1.50 gears in the top? This would be in an XR drive.

If you are running a 1.50-1 upper ratio on a XR Bravo I. You can change the lower gear set to achieve 1.35 or 1.26 overall ratio. These lower gears are genuine Mercruiser. If you a running a upper ratio of 1.36-1 than you can achieve a even lower overall ratio.
