OK, a circ pump cannot pull water, it has to be fed. So, if your seawater pump takes a dive, it does you no good. If the circ takes a dive, at best you have water spraying everywhere, at worst you have a busted belt. Sewater pump cant force water past the dead pump. So, why kee the circ pump??

I went with them when I put on blowers eng will run cold you will need one with a bypass to run a tstat. They make for a very clean looking eng they also can cause hi water pressure in some boats. I use a 5/8 restrictor no tstat and run 20 psi with no problems.

I run a bypass. When doing my engine swap, I couldn't see buying a new pump and then have to worry about it and the belt. For about the same price I switched to the crossover with t-stat and by-pass and have been very happy with the choice.
And it looks cool.

Everyone has there preference. Me too. You will see no power gains. If it is EFI I would definitely NOT run a cross over. Stock recirc system works well and keeps engine temps up and no water pressure problems. A big ZERO on cool looks. If you decide to run a cross over plan on spending some time fine tuning water pressure, temperature and evening out water flow to both sides of the motor. Just my .02
