Best carb Holley or Quadrajet???

I'm a hard core Q-jet fan, and it is an awesome carb, but it's only good to about 500hp due to it's small (i believe .120) fuel inlet size and single fuel bowl area. At wide open with high hp for extended periods, it's easy to suck it dry. Also, it's spreadbore design makes it more difficult to get even plug readings. Stick with the Holley, you are prob close to 500hp already.......
For drag racing tho, they are the chit.!

I have a 468 with a Holley 750. It has awesome throttle response. I initially thought the carb was a little small, but when I raised this question, someone did the math and a 750 is plenty. I was told I would loose throttle response and would likely not gain anything on top. Bigger is not always better.

The quad is an excellent carb for the street. It's not the best carb for a marine app that's trying to build hp.
I believe all the holly cfm charts are weighted for the street. I believe that a marine app doesn't need the reduced cfm of a street carb. Ie-if you were 100 cfm over the charts recommendation, the carb will still be ok.

your kidding right?ever see a race motor with a Qjet?The Qjets are fine on stock stuff but the desciption you gave aint stock....800-850 holley my .02

Over carbureting on a marine application can be worse than an automotive since your normally running at a much higher load situation, for longer durations in a boat than in a car. Based on the fuel being pulled from a carburetor you are always safer going smaller if the application is on the boarder line.
